Terms and Conditions for the Made in Sicily Santa Tecla Bed and Breakfast
We are delighted to welcome you to our Made in Sicily accommodation in Santa Tecla. Please take a moment to read our house rules.
The rules to be observed are not only those laid down by law, but above all those dictated by common sense and mutual respect.
Therefore, by choosing to stay at the Made in Sicily Bed and Breakfast in Santa Tecla, you are deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions in full.
Booking
Booking requests can be made by telephone or email. We will then send you confirmation of your booking, along with all the details regarding your stay and instructions on how to pay the deposit – which amounts to 40% of the total cost of your stay – by postal order or bank transfer. The balance must be paid upon your arrival at the B&B. Your booking will be confirmed once we have received the deposit.
A tourist tax of €2 per person per night is also payable for tourist services in the town of Acireale, up to a maximum of five consecutive nights. (ref. CITY COUNCIL RESOLUTION No. 18 of 7 February 2025)
Check-in and check-out
Check-in: from 2.00 pm to 6.30 pm. Any earlier or later check-in times must be agreed at the time of booking.
As Made in Sicily by Santa Tecla is a family-run bed and breakfast, we do not offer a 24-hour reception service. We therefore ask you to let us know your expected arrival time by telephone at least 24 hours before your arrival.
Arriving at the venue without giving advance notice of your arrival time may result in a wait. Such an oversight cannot be grounds for complaints or claims for a refund.
Check-out: by 10.00 am. Any other times must be agreed in advance.
If the room has not been vacated by 10.30 am, an additional charge equivalent to one night’s stay will be applied.
At the time of check-out, rooms will be inspected before guests leave, and guests will be charged for any damage and/or items belonging to the hotel that are missing.
Guest registration
– Upon arrival, guests are requested to present a valid form of identification so that we may complete the police registration form (data processed in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 675 of 31 December 1996). Failure to comply with this requirement constitutes a breach of the provisions of the Criminal Code and entitles us to request that you leave the premises immediately.
Our guests’ personal data is processed in accordance with current privacy legislation, pursuant to Law No. 675/96 and Legislative Decree No. 196 of 30 June 2003.
Any information you provide to our website will be used solely for the purpose of sending you information about our establishment and will therefore never be used for any other purpose, unless you have voluntarily and expressly given us your consent to do so.
Any third-party websites linked to or from Made in Sicily Santa Tecla have their own privacy policies and their own databases, which are independent of our organisation; for this reason, Made in Sicily Santa Tecla is not responsible for the actions or internal policies of such websites. Should you be asked to provide your personal data to third parties, please take note of the privacy policies of those websites.
In addition to the room keys, guests will be provided with keys to the B&B entrance; should either set of keys be lost, a charge of €100 will apply. The management reserves the right to claim compensation from guests for any damage and/or loss caused to the property, whether through wilful misconduct or negligence.
Please ensure that the main entrance to the building is securely locked when entering and leaving.
The communal areas are under video surveillance, in accordance with the principles, rules and obligations set out in the General Provision of 28 April 2010 issued by the Data Protection Authority.
Cancellation fee
If the Customer decides to cancel a booking, they must notify us by email or telephone. In such cases, the following policy may apply:
- No charge will be made for cancellations or changes made up to 15 days before the scheduled arrival date.
- If you cancel or make changes up to 7 days before your scheduled arrival date, you will be charged for one night’s stay.
– For cancellations or changes made up to 5 days before the scheduled arrival date, 100% of the cost of the first night will be charged.
- If you cancel or make changes after this deadline, or if you do not show up (no-show), you will be charged the full cost of your stay.
- Early departures: early departures are a problem because they do not give us enough time to be contacted and find new guests for the room that becomes available; therefore, the full amount paid for the booked stay will not be refunded.
- Made in Sicily Santa Tecla Bed & Breakfast accepts no liability for cancellations due to force majeure
(e.g. natural disasters, fires, wars or socio-political events).
- We accept no liability for any disruption caused by a total or partial failure of utilities such as electricity, water, telephone lines or internet connections that are beyond our control.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served between 8.30 am and 10.00 am (unless otherwise agreed). Outside these hours, eating is not permitted in the breakfast areas, whilst meals are never permitted in the guest rooms.
Mini-bar
The accommodation offers a minibar service, with drinks supplied directly by the establishment (please let us know as soon as you have consumed a drink).
It is strictly forbidden to place any food or drink in the fridge that has already been opened or that has not been provided by the establishment.
Cleaning
Rooms and bathrooms are cleaned daily between 9.00 am and 12.00 pm, which includes changing towels and cleaning the room (cleaning cannot be carried out outside these times).
Bed linen is changed every 3 days or after each guest check-out, unless otherwise requested (in which case a surcharge of €10 applies).
Please use the toilet facilities properly and respectfully, and do not throw anything into the toilet (please use the bins provided).
Loss, theft and damage.
The Made in Sicily Santa Tecla B&B accepts no liability for the loss, theft or damage of any personal belongings left in the rooms. We do not provide a luggage storage service. Personal belongings must not be left in the communal areas. We accept no liability should this rule be breached.
Animals
Pets are not permitted in the B&B, solely for hygiene reasons and to avoid causing allergies to other guests.
Rules and Prohibitions
– Smoking is strictly prohibited in guest rooms and all communal areas (Article 51 of Law No. 3 of 16 January 2003). Smoking is permitted in designated areas, provided that ashtrays are used at all times. Offenders will be subject to the penalties provided for by law.
– Guests are not permitted to allow other people onto the B&B premises at any time, for reasons of public safety.
-Bringing and/or using dangerous items, gas canisters, flammable liquids, electric hobs, irons, open-flame appliances, etc. within the premises and in the rooms is strictly prohibited.
– Young guests must always be accompanied by an adult and must never be left unattended. In particular, please take the utmost care when using the stairs and accessing the play area, and do not leave them alone on the balcony or terrace. The property accepts no liability for any injury to themselves or others resulting from failure to comply with these rules.
– Minors accompanied by adults with whom they are not related are not permitted on the premises.
– Water is a precious resource; please ensure that you turn off the taps in the bathroom and outdoor showers properly after each use.
– It is strictly forbidden to take any towels provided by the hotel out of your room.
– It is strictly forbidden to eat any food in the room.
– You are not permitted to consume drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) or food purchased outside the premises.
– Don’t leave the lights and appliances (air conditioning, TV) on when you go out.
– To ensure the air conditioning is used correctly, please keep windows and balconies closed whilst it is running.
– Please do not move any furniture or furnishings in the rooms or communal areas, nor tamper with or manipulate any cables or electrical appliances.
– Running, shouting and horseplay are not permitted anywhere on the Bed & Breakfast premises. This includes corridors, the lobby area, staircases and bedrooms;
-There are no set times for entering or leaving the premises; guests may come and go as they please, provided they observe common sense (no shouting, no running down the stairs, no loitering on the landings, etc.)
-In accordance with the B&B’s rules and regulations and the regulations of the Municipal Police, guests are requested to keep quiet between 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm and from 11.00 pm to 8.00 am.
The management reserves the right to claim compensation from guests for any damage and/or loss caused to the property, whether through wilful misconduct or negligence.
By commencing your stay, you are deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions. Failure to comply with them will result in immediate removal from the premises, with no entitlement to a refund, and you will be charged the full cost of your stay, as well as any costs incurred in repairing damage caused to persons or property within the building.
Any damage must be reported to and compensated for immediately by the accommodation manager. Any charges arising from guests’ non-compliance, including minibar consumption, will be charged directly to the credit card details provided by the guest at the time of booking.
All guests are required to pay for any damage caused to the B&B as a result of the improper use of additional facilities such as air conditioning, TV, mini-fridge, tables, chairs, etc.
